Festivals Taking Place Across Ireland in the New Year

2023 is almost here there are already plenty of festivals lined up during the new year!

We have put together a list of some brilliant festivals that are due to go ahead in the new year!

Temple Bar TradFest

25th – 29th January

Temple Bar, Dublin

Every year during the final part of January, the Temple Bar TradFest takes place for five days to mark the end of winter and the entrance of spring. This event, now in its 14th year, continues to increase in popularity year after year. The name of the festival genre is self-explanatory; this is a small-scale celebration of traditional Irish music.

At least, that’s how it started; presently, the festival has grown to include a diverse range of musical genres to appeal to both the traditionalist and the musical generalist. TradFest’s origins are in traditional Irish music, but folk and even rock and roll have a home there as well.

The festival features national talent in a variety of locations so you can get a better sense of the city while you’re there.

St. Patrick’s Festival

17th March

Dublin, Ireland

The Irish celebrate St. Patrick’s Day as their national holiday. On March 17th, it is commemorated all around the world. The St. Patrick’s Festival is a multi-day event. It began in 1996 and has been conducted annually since. The huge festival is regarded as one of the most invested in the globe. The festival’s first five years of planning lasted five months.

The festival’s planning and preparations might take up to 18 months these days since it has grown into a massive event with multiple events. It can’t be compared to anything else in the world. Many events take place throughout the festival, both during the day and at night. All across the city, there are celebratory activities, parties, open-air concerts, street plays, family carnivals, treasure hunts (a game in which participants search for hidden things by following a trail of clues), fun performances, and dancing shows.

The majority of the events are free. More than 4,000 performers take part in the activities, and the projected number of festival-goers approaches a million throughout the festival days (locals and tourists).

Fleadh Nua

27th May – 5th June

Ennis

Concerts, Ceilis, Sessions, CD Launches, Recitals, Irish Dance Competitions, and Street Entertainment are all scheduled for the 2023 Fleadh Nua in Ennis, which promises to be an exciting and unique event.

Since 1974, Fleadh Nua has grown from a three-day event to a ten-day festival with over 120 unique activities, providing something for everyone. There are other Irish traditional festivals held during the summer months, but few would argue that Fleadh Nua, which began in Dublin in 1970, is the most important of them all. The idea of combining concerts, céilithe, music, singing and dancing workshops, street entertainment, and other activities was groundbreaking at the time. Thousands of tourists travel to the festival every May for a week of unparalleled traditional entertainment, proving that it’s still a successful recipe.

Many more will be announced throughout the year so keep your eye on our website!
