Things To Do On A Rainy Day In Dublin

Oh no! Bad weather has striked Dublin once more! Who would have guessed? No need to worry, we’ve got you covered (literally). Here we have compiled the perfect day out in Dublin if it rains (no need to cancel plans just yet!).

Brekkie at The Bakehouse Dublin

Grab a quick bite to eat at one of Dublin’s many cute cafes – go for the vibrant and quirky Bakehouse Dublin and enjoy mouth-watering Buttermilk pancakes oozing with gorgeous golden maple syrup on top, or try their incredible vegan bloomer with freshly smashed avocado paired with a delicious cappuccino to get the day going, what more can we ask for?

Get lost Wandering through the Long Room at Trinity College

We think gloomy days like these should be taken advantage of and embraced. Enter the infamous Long Room at trinity college. The mahogany interior is really something to marvel at, and the perfect setting for a bibliophile. Even for those generally uninterested in books, it is still a beautiful room and a wonderful place to spend a rainy day. You can just picture great writers coiled up writing their next bestseller while the drizzling rain hits the windows.

Discover the National Gallery of Ireland

Packed full of amazing art pieces from the likes of the legendary Titian to Monet and Picasso, there is no gallery quite like the National Gallery of Ireland! With so many exhibitions year-round, there is always something new to discover at the gallery, making it the perfect getaway for whatever gloomy weather you may encounter this autumn! With over 16 thousand artworks in their possession, you can spend the entire day there and not get bored!

For lunch head over to the famous Fish Shack Cafe

While in Dublin why not visit one of the go-to spots for great fresh fish? Tuck into their gorgeous scampi or for those with vegetarian needs – don’t fret you can try out their amazing halloumi burger instead. It is a great way to eat out without breaking the bank!

Travel to the National Leprechaun Museum

If you wish to be enchanted by the whimsical folklore of Ireland- this is the place to be! You will be guided by captivating storytellers to really immerse you in the world of Irish magic and mystery with all the famous legends like the leprechaun that dates back all the way to the 8th century! (If you want the darker and more twisted myths and legends make sure to book it for after 6:30 pm!)

Make sure to pre-book your visit to not risk missing out!

Enjoy the Spectacle at Abbey Theatre

To finish the day we think the best way to top off your Dublin experience would be to go to the Abbey Theatre for an incredible show-stopping performance! They have so many shows on-going throughout the whole year that you will most certainly find something to your taste. Their September 2021 shows features the mysterious story of a dead woman whose face was stolen (need we say more?) as well as a story about troubled family life.
