Ards Forest Park is unique among Coillte’s parks in that it contains sandy beaches, a rocky coastline, and a variety of ecosystems. All of them are accessible through a network of well-marked trails and pathways.
There are a number of archaeological sites and national monuments in the forest, which are all recorded in a guide brochure published by Coillte and accessible at most tourist information offices.
Ards Forest Park is ideal for a day out with the family. There is a great children’s playground that is built in line with the surroundings, as well as many picnic tables and, of course, Lough Lilly, where you may say hello to many lovely white and yellow water lilies and ducks. The golden sand beaches along the coast are excellent for paddling and swimming.
There are several interesting natural sculptures and a boardwalk along the coastal path, which contribute to the uniqueness of this beautiful land and ocean.
