Birr Theatre and Arts Centre, which dates from 1888 and is nestled in the tree-lined Oxmantown Mall, is a dedicated purpose-built theatre. After falling into ruin during the 1980s and 1990s, Birr Stage Guild went about renovating and refurbishing this Victorian theatre structure, which has a seating capacity of 220 people, using both public and private monies.
It is currently a high-quality facility that serves as a year-round hub for the growth of the arts in Birr and its environs, as well as the rest of Offaly County and the wider region.
Theatre, music (classical, contemporary, folk, jazz, etc. ), film, dance, comedy, and their participation in a number of events are all on their schedule.
