The Coal Mining Exhibition, Visitor Center, and Design Craft workshops, which are housed in the old horse yard, opened to the public in 2007, making it a relatively “new” park. The Park is constantly changing and establishing new recreational, cultural, and educational opportunities for visitors of all ages.
Since its inception, the Park has risen from strength to strength. Thousands of people visit each year, including over 120,000 in 2016. The 2015 Kilkenny Chamber of Commerce Business Award for Culture/Heritage Tourism went to Castlecomer Discovery Park.
