Cavan Burren Park first opened its doors to the public in May 2014. However, the site actually dates back a bit farther, perhaps about 340 million years to the Carboniferous era, when the whole region was submerged in a shallow tropical sea. However, you may learn more about it at their Geology & Archaeology section.
Back to the park… nowadays, you can enjoy a great interpretive centre and five excellent walking paths that circle Cavan Burren Park, all of which emphasise the stunning ancient tombs, incredible geology, and remarkable tales that make this such a unique setting.
Interpretation carefully placed throughout this site explains all of the characteristics while you take in the 360° views. Every step you take in this magnificent ancient park brings stories of giants and flowing glaciers to life.
