The County Carlow Military Museum is located on the grounds of St Dympnas Hospital, Athy Road, Carlow, in an ancient church. It’s a privately managed museum with a diverse collection of relics from local, national, and worldwide wars. The bulk of the items/artifacts were generously given by the local community. You may take your family on an English or Irish-language guided tour (please ask when your get there).
The museum includes a trench recreation from World War One. ‘Follow Them Up From Carlow,’ a book on Carlow soldiers in the Great War, was just published by one of the museum’s directors. The Irish War of Independence and the Irish Civil War are among the other exhibits. The Audio/Visual section offers video from Ireland’s Civil War and War of Independence.
