Water eroded the limestone rock, creating a network of carved tunnels and chambers. The water eventually dried up or sought new pathways, leaving river gravel and silt deposits behind. Crag Cave’s numerous features, the most prominent of which are stalactites and stalagmites, were produced by little drops of water into the cave. These delicate structures are the cave’s most notable feature, making it Ireland’s most thrilling showcave.
Crag Cave
Crag Cave is an ancient fossil cave system that is older than humans, with natural processes that produced the intricate and magnificent passageways visible within.
