Donegal Golf Course is a links course constructed on a 182-acre peninsula that juts out into the Atlantic Ocean. The course, constructed on geologically significant terrain, was occupied in previous centuries, as shown by the oldest Irish maps.
The course is a par 73 for both men and women, with five Par 5s, four Par 3s, and nine Par 4s spanning over 7400 yards from the tips and five regular tees from each hole, plus a novice tee. The outer loop follows the dunes and the water, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding region. The inner circle is more sheltered, but the ever-changing sea wind offers a continuous challenge for both pro and amateur golfers. Despite its length, the route is an easy walk, punctuated by spectacular vistas, animals, and a display of fauna and flora that changes and evolves throughout the year.
The course was originally created by the renowned Irish golf course architect, Eddie Hackett, and is constantly shaped and improved by the’master of links design,’ Pat Ruddy. Donegal Golf Club is regarded as “one of my favourite courses in the world” by Darren Clarke, the 2011 Open Champion and a member of the Course.
A driving range, warm-up area, and putting, chipping, and bunker practise facilities are available.
