Garden, lakes, woodland, and some fascinating architectural features make up the enticing eighteenth-century setting of Heywood Gardens, near Ballinakill, County Laois. The park is nestled into a steep incline. A view to the southeast encompasses seven counties.
The formal gardens, which are the property’s focal point, were designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens. They were most likely landscaped by famed designer Gertrude Jekyll.
The gardens are made up of different sections that are connected by a terrace that used to run down the front of the house. An underground garden with an extended pool and a big fountain in the centre is one of the site’s most distinctive features.
The Heywood adventure begins right outside the Gate Lodge. The magnificent Lutyens gardens and the surrounding picturesque scenery will be guided by information panels and signage.
