A trip to Connemara isn’t complete without a stop at Inishbofin Island, one of Ireland’s most westerly islands.
The charming fishing village of Cleggan, just a few minutes drive from Clifden, is only a 30-minute crossing from the unique island of Inishbofin, which is located about 10 kilometres off the north Connemara coast. The Ferry Service is provided by the “The Island Discovery,” a swift and pleasant ferry.
Cleggan is the departure point for the ferry service to the Island, and it is approximately 90 minutes west of Galway city. The island itself is a haven of beauty, with breathtaking landscapes ranging from cliff top treks to views of the sea on all sides, white sand beaches, and a plethora of unusual flora and fauna.
