The history of Johnstown Castle Estate, Museum, and Gardens stretches back over 800 years. It is not just a major property of national importance but also a location of tremendous romantic appeal and tranquillity, located outside of Wexford town in Ireland’s southeast. The magnificent lake walkways, walled gardens, and statues provide a stunning backdrop for the enormous 19th-century castle.
The new ‘3 in 1′ visitor attraction Johnstown Castle Estate, Museum & Gardens debuted in summer 2019 as a significant contribution to Irish tourism and Ireland’s Ancient East. The Gothic-Revival Castle has undergone conservation and upgrade work, and guided tours are now accessible on a daily basis for the first time, including the 86-meter-long servants’ tunnel.
The Irish Agricultural Museum’s displays in the castle courtyard structure are also part of this new attraction. Visitors may also take walks in the beautiful woods around the gorgeous castle lakes, which have Gothic towers and sculptures. A new 1.5-kilometre lower lake path featuring a new forest children’s play area has opened. For the first time in a century, the lower lake has accessible paths.
