Loughgall is pivotal in the history of the Orange Institution, which was founded in 1795 in the wake of the Battle of the Diamond.
The Museum at Sloan’s House has an incredible collection of papers related to the Orange Order’s origins, including some of the earliest warrants issued. The site also recounts the history of the Plantation and the surrounding Loughgall region, including events previous to 1795.
The site also contains Sloan’s Parlour, which is shown as it would have been during the Orange’s creation. The narrative is told via visuals, audio visual technology, and the exhibition of important artefacts in The Parlour.
Sloan’s House is also home to a permanent exhibition space, a café, and research facilities.
