Ormond Castle

Cashel Folk Village was erected in 1565 by Thomas, 10th Earl of Ormond, in honour of his distant relative Queen Elizabeth. The majestic great hall, which spans almost the entire length of the structure, is adorned with some of the country's best stucco plasterwork. Portraits of Queen Elizabeth and her brother Edward VI, as well as themes and insignia connected with the Tudor monarchy, adorn the plasterwork. The fascinating history of this castle is brought to life through audiovisuals and technical installations.
