It was constructed to the highest international standards and is projected to attract 50,000 visitors each year. The project, which cost €4.5 million to complete, was a collaboration between Tralee Town Council and Failte Ireland as part of the National Development Plan (2007-2013).
The programme is one of a kind in Ireland, and it is helping to pave the way for Kerry’s burgeoning ecotourism business. It is strategically located at the gateway to the Dingle Peninsula and will greatly enhance Tralee’s tourism product offering. The Tralee Bay area’s rich natural history, which includes a world-class nature reserve, is used by the Wetlands Centre.
