Find Things To Do In Cork
Welcome to Cork
Uplands and hills in Cork are formed by long east-west ridges. Farmlands, which make up less than a third of the region, rise to a height of 800 feet (245 metres) and border the valleys of east-flowing rivers such as the Blackwater, the Bride, the Lee, and the Bandon. In the east and central parts of Cork, broad valleys and lowlands give place to smaller valleys with coastal lowlands backed by high mountains in the west. Bantry and Dunmanus bays are surrounded by long, picturesque promontories, such as the Beare Peninsula. Because of the mild winters, subtropical vegetation thrives in Glengariff, which is located at the mouth of Bantry Bay.
